Centenary Spotlight: Toni Dement
This week’s Centenary Spotlight is on Toni Dement! Toni is one of our remarkable volunteers who contributes largely to our Children’s Programs at church. Toni has been a member of Centenary for the last 30 years. She is a retired elementary teacher from Clippard, and has always had a passion for kids.
Toni has assisted with the Children’s Ministry for the past eight years in many ways. She has taught a Sunday preschool class for the last four years, has ran (shouldn’t this be run and not ran?)the yearly Easter Egg Hunt for the last seven years, assists with Trunk or Treat, and, along with Jerry Dement, has founded Centenary Kids Club. She also helps out with Bible Adventure Camp, with this year’s coming up in June!
Not only does she play an essential role in virtually every Kids Program led by the church, she is also the chair of the Preschool Committee and the Scholarship Committee. Duties of the Preschool Committee include overseeing the budget, working with the Preschool Director for any needs, assisting all preschool events, and being the “face” of Centenary. Toni hopes for further integration with Centenary Church and our Preschool. Being a welcoming presence for the preschool kids is a vital way for the parents to be more involved in church activities. On top of everything else, she is one of the leaders of our Women’s Bible Study.
Toni has two daughters that grew up in this Church, and two granddaughters who got baptized here. Toni is proud of Centenary and how we stepped up after the disaffiliation, and she sees more growth in the future. Toni was crucial to continuing our children’s ministries during the disaffiliation, and she looks forward to how Pastor Denni Palmer will make this ministry blossom. Thank you Toni for all you do!
